Programme Overview

The Professional Certificate in 5G for Telecommunication Technical Professionals provides a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of mobile networks from 1G to 5G, emphasising the shift towards virtualisation, cloud infrastructure, and microservices. Learners will gain expertise in 5G core elements, radio functionalities, optimization strategies, as well as management, charging, and cybersecurity protocols at both radio and core levels, including endpoint devices. The programme delves into 5G network security, exploring vulnerabilities, threat surfaces, and effective mitigation techniques. Additionally, it covers the emerging paradigm of edge computing, including its drivers, architectural frameworks, and diverse application scenarios. Through in-depth case studies, learners will explore real-life deployments of 5G networks, while staying updated on the latest developments such as Network Slicing, Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), Open RAN, and Private 5G.
