Advanced Professional Certificate

Advanced Professional Certificate in Internet of Things

Programme Overview

The Advanced Professional Certificate in Internet of Things (IoT) is an extensive programme that encompasses three fundamental areas of IoT. It starts with the Professional Certificate in Basic Electronics and Microcontroller Programming for IoT, laying a strong foundation in electronics, microcontroller programming, and device communication. This enables learners to create, construct, and program IoT devices, as well as deploy full IoT systems. Next, the Professional Certificate in Cloud Technologies for IoT provides the necessary skills to maneuver through the evolving IoT technology field, establish consistent data transmission routes, develop protocols like MQTT, build RESTful servers, and ensure secure device-to-server communications. It also teaches how to design robust, scalable backend servers, and create effective databases and distributed ledgers, including blockchains. The curriculum concludes with the Professional Certificate in Deep Learning for IoT, which teaches learners to leverage data using statistical methods and deep learning network design, allowing them to identify and forecast complex patterns in IoT data, leading to well-informed decisions in the intricate IoT environment. Collectively, these certificates offer a thorough and detailed insight into the IoT domain.

Programme Objectives

This Advanced Professional Certificate will equip learners with the following competencies:

  • Understand the basic electronics skills needed to support Microcontroller Programming for Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Create prototype of intelligent systems and connect them to microcontrollers for communication
  • Understand the importance of Cloud Technologies for secure communications between the devices and the cloud servers
  • Acquire the skills to design and build resilient and scalable backend servers, efficient and robust backend databases and distributed ledgers
  • Understand the fundamental Deep Learning skills to make predictions about IoT data
  • Design deep learning neural networks to analyse, understand and react to IoT data

Job Role Readiness

It will prepare learners in the following job roles to perform their responsibilities more effectively:

  • IoT Engineer
  • Backend/Blockchain Engineer
  • Specialists in Machine Learning
