Programme Overview

With more businesses embracing digital transformation, there is a greater need for stronger data protection capability in businesses. Professionals and executives who are appointed as the Data Protection Officers (DPO) need to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out their functions in order to comply with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Organisations need to adopt an accountability-based approach to safeguard personal data and use them responsibly. Setting up a proper governance structure to oversee the data protection efforts and to mitigate data protection risks, implementing a data management programme, managing data breach incidents, and engaging both internal and external stakeholders is what the data protection officer (DPO) needs to do for his/her organisation.

Programme Objectives

This PC will equip learners with the following competencies:

  • Business Risk Management

It will provide the professional knowledge and skills to meet regulatory requirements under the Personal Data Protection Act (2020) Singapore.

On completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the Data Protection and Do-Not-Call provisions of the PDPA
  • Learn to use the various tools and resources to help you implement the data protection management programme
  • Be able to set up a data protection governance structure to oversee and manage the data protection risks
  • Learn various techniques to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively
  • Be able to develop a data breach management plan that encompasses the prevention, detection, and response to data breach incidents

It will prepare learners in the following job roles to perform their responsibilities more effectively/ It will prepare learners for the following job roles:

  • Data Protection Officer (note that it is mandatory under the PDPA for organisations to appoint a DPO)

  1. Total Nett Programme Fee Payable, Including GST, after additional funding from the various funding schemes
  2. Participants must fulfill at least 75% attendance and pass all assessment components for all short courses within a professional certificate in order to be eligible for SSG funding.
