Dates: 22 Nov, 23 Nov 2023 | 9am-5.30pm | Classroom Learning
Duration: 2 Days
Course Overview
This course trains participants on how to turn needs and requirements into ideas and prototypes. It teaches participants how to brainstorm, come up with scenarios, sketch and storyboarding, develop wireframe designs as well as interactive prototypes. Participants will learn two popular design software: Balsamiq and Figma to translate content and layout into appropriate interface elements, rapid prototyping the UI. Hands-on practices will be provided so that participants can apply what they learned in their everyday design tasks.
This course is part of Professional Certificate in User Interface and Interaction Design.
Course Objectives
The course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills to:
- ideate effectively with others using interaction design practices
- iteratively turn abstract low fidelity concepts into detailed high fidelity designs
- translate content and layout into an intuitive and responsive interface experience for users
- rapid prototype user interfaces and interactions to accomplish specific tasks

Assoc Prof Zhao Shengdong

Assoc Prof Zhao Shengdong
Assoc Prof Zhao Shengdong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science of the National University of Singapore where he founded the NUS-HCI research lab in 2009. He earned his Masters and PhD degrees at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Toronto, respectively. Shengdong has a wealth of experience in developing new interface tools and applications. ACM Interaction Magazine mentioned him as one of the most prolific authors in Asia for the ACM SIGCHI conference. Shengdong frequently served on the program committees in top HCI conferences. He was the recipient of the ICACHI Outstanding Young Leaders in HCI award and the NUS Young Investigator Award. More information about Shengdong can be found at http://www.shengdongzhao.com
I am passionate about improving human experience when interacting with computers. I am interested in looking beyond the specificity of individual projects to discover the more fundamental research problems, and then to develop generalizable strategies to solve these problems. Looking beyond, I am interested in developing the next generation of interaction paradigms so that we can leverage the full range of human capabilities. I am also interested in combining HCI with AI to create intelligent user experiences.
