From Ideas to Prototypes

Course Overview

This course trains participants on how to turn needs and requirements into ideas and prototypes. It teaches participants how to brainstorm, come up with scenarios, sketch and storyboarding, develop wireframe designs as well as interactive prototypes. Participants will learn two popular design software: Balsamiq and Figma to translate content and layout into appropriate interface elements, rapid prototyping the UI. Hands-on practices will be provided so that participants can apply what they learned in their everyday design tasks.

This course is part of Professional Certificate in User Interface and Interaction Design.

Course Objectives

The course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills to:

  • ideate effectively with others using interaction design practices
  • iteratively turn abstract low fidelity concepts into detailed high fidelity designs
  • translate content and layout into an intuitive and responsive interface experience for users
  • rapid prototype user interfaces and interactions to accomplish specific tasks

Who Should Attend

UI Designer

Prerequisites

Required years of experience in UI Design related roles and/or customer/client-facing roles: 1 year. English proficiency: Good. Has a strong interest in improving user interface and interaction for customers.

Hardware and Software Applications

  • Laptop is required.
  • Software: Figma, Balsamiq

Total Nett Programme Fee Payable, Including GST, after additional funding from the various funding schemes

Participants must fulfill at least 75% attendance and pass all assessment components to be eligible for SSG funding.

This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP). NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP. NTUC members aged 40 and above can enjoy higher funding support up to $500 per individual each year, capped at 50% of unfunded course fees, for courses attended between 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2025.
