Course Overview
This course aims to provide non-technical executives and professionals with the grounding in cybersecurity to understand further the business risks, team structure, governance models, investment decisions, quantifying outcomes, sourcing strategies and effective communication with the technical professionals.
This course is part of Professional Certificate in Cybersecurity and Privacy Engineering.
Course Objectives
This course will equip the learner with the following knowledge and skills:
- Understand technology jargons for effective communication
- Understand Cloud, Internet of Things (IoT) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) security
- Learn to focus on top three vulnerable risks for any organisation
- Learn to uncover risks and quantify security posture
- Prepare stakeholders practically for incidents and response in regard to communication strategy
- Learn to sustain a talented in-house cybersecurity team
- Introduce outcome-based cybersecurity investment
- Learn to critique a cybersecurity proposal

Dr Yang Lu

Dr Yang Lu
Dr Yang Lu is a Lecturer at the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at National University of Singapore (NUS). She graduated with Bachelor of Engineering in Information Systems from Renmin University of China and PhD in Information Systems from National University of Singapore. She currently teaches undergraduate courses in Management of Information Systems, Information Security Management, Computing and Society, and Computing Basics.
Course Fees
Total Nett Programme Fee Payable, Including GST, after additional funding from the various funding schemes
Participants must fulfill at least 75% attendance and pass all assessment components to be eligible for SSG funding.
This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP). NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP. NTUC members aged 40 and above can enjoy higher funding support up to $500 per individual each year, capped at 50% of unfunded course fees, for courses attended between 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2025.
