Course Overview

This course covers both qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods for user interfaces and interactions. It will include both rapid evaluation techniques such as heuristic evaluations, paper prototyping, and wizard of oz evaluations, as well as more rigorous controlled studies. It will also teach both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques including thematic analysis and statistical tests.

Course Objectives

The course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Oversee the conduct of usability testing to validate user interfaces and interactions
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of user interfaces and interactions in meeting user needs and requirements
  • Analyse the effectiveness of UI designs based on performance indicators and propose recommendations
  • Analyse results of UI evaluations for user interface and user experience (ui/ux) optimisation

Who Should Attend

UI Designer

Prerequisites

Must have taken and passed:

  • Introduction to UXD course and
  • Designing for Experiences by crafting appropriate Cognitive, Social and Motional Events” course Or
  • Required years of experience in UI Design related roles and/or customer/client-facing roles: 1 year.

English proficiency: Good

Has a strong interest in improving user interface and interaction for customers.

Technical Requirements

Laptop is required.

Software: Jamovi, Google office suit (doc, slides, excel)

Other Information

This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP). NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP. NTUC members aged 40 and above can enjoy higher funding support up to $500 per individual each year, capped at 50% of unfunded course fees, for courses attended between 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2025.
