Course Overview

This course provides a basic introduction to chat models and natural language processing (NLP), focusing on state-of-the-art techniques, architectures, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Students will learn about various NLP tasks, such as sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and machine translation. They will also explore chatbot development using deep learning-based methods, with a focus on popular architectures like Transformers and GPT. The course will include hands-on exercises using popular NLP frameworks and libraries.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Understand the core concepts and techniques in NLP.

• Develop a solid understanding of state-of-the-art NLP architectures and methods.

• Gain hands-on experience in building chatbots and NLP applications using popular frameworks and libraries.

Other Information

This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP). NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP. NTUC members aged 40 and above can enjoy higher funding support up to $500 per individual each year, capped at 50% of unfunded course fees, for courses attended between 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2025.
