Course Overview
Focusing on the financial sector and with the technological solutions in mind, students can look forward to learning contemporary issues in the financial technology space. The module will investigate the integration of financial domain know-how and advanced technologies, such as the algorithmic trading for the financial market. Students are advised to look into content detail for specific offering during the year.
This module is part of NUS FinTech SG Programme.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the fundamentals of specific financial technology solutions, risk management, and financial regulations.
- Know how financial sector, e.g., financial exchanges, work and how trades are settled.
- Acquire knowledge on different financial instruments (e.g., Stocks, Forex, and Cryptocurrencies etc.) and different statistical modelling techniques for modelling.

Ms Diana Leng

Ms Diana Leng
Ms Diana Leng has extensive experience in the development and implementation of business strategies, corporate planning, banking and finance. Prior to becoming the CFO of an international offshore Drilling company she was the Director of Treasury of a singapore listed company. Before joining the Group, Ms Leng held various banking positions with ING Group internationally. She holds a Master of Science International Business from Maastricht University. She enjoys reading, photography and travelling and mentoring.
Ms Joelle Choo

Ms Joelle Choo
Ms Joelle Choo brings with her 24 years of international advisory and leadership experience, spanning across Audit, Finance, Systems and Process Design. A LEAN Six Sigma advocate, she is passionate about helping her clients select and implement the right solutions using a practical and cost effective approach.
She started her career as an Auditor with a Big 4 accounting firm, and held various finance and consulting roles in software, manufacturing and banking companies in different locations across Asia, US and Europe. Her primary focus was ERP implementation, process re-engineering, global program management and execution.
She spent 11 years with an American multinational conglomerate, residing in USA, Europe and Asia, driving various global ERP and transformation projects. She also led a team of Black Belts in process re-engineering and optimization, and supported various acquisitions integrate using the Agile methodology while applying LEAN Quality principles.
She was the IT leader for Acquisitions during her 5 years tenure at an American multinational technology conglomerate headquartered in San Jose, CA USA. In her role, Joelle was charged with integrating various acquisitions to ensure a unified user and customer experience. She led the Global Supply Chain Transformation initiative, drove engagements across business and IT, defined an executable IT and Business Transformation roadmap, strategy and approach.
She relocated back to Singapore in 2014, working as an advisor to the Chairman of an Indonesian Conglomerate, driving IT transformation for the food Division, addressing specifically the SAP platform. Joelle recently served as CTO for a food manufacturing and port operation company operating in SE Asia, besides rolling out the SAP S4Hana system, she drove centralization of the IT organization, defined required skills, assessment and training across the various system users in different locations, to drive system usage integrity and compliance. She established a data platform and initiated the cloud migration to ensure low cost of ownership with optimal output and IT usage.
Joelle is currently a NUS Fellow, continuing her passion to help clients achieve impactful business outcomes, using cost-effective solutions through Human Capital Transformation via education and Digital/Technology Transformation advisory.
