NUS FinTech SG Progamme

The NUS ACE FinTech SG Programme was created for people to learn and be inspired to consider a career in the fast-growing field of FinTech.

With more than 25,000 technology jobs now open in Singapore, employers are on the lookout for qualified professionals who are willing and able to take the bold step to fill up the positions.

NUS ACE has designed a training programme that:

  1. Launches you on a journey of understanding and appreciation of FinTech and its importance
  2. Teaches you vital front-end/backend programming and other skills crucial to the sector
  3. Enriches your portfolio with real-word demonstrated capabilities that employers are looking for

To this end, we worked closely with companies and global standard organisations to ensure that the programme is in line with the industry requirements and abreast of international trends.

What is the NUS FinTechSG Programme?

The NUS FinTechSG Programme is an optional traineeship* program designed to enhance the competitiveness of the Singapore FinTech Industry. The program is jointly developed by National University Singapore (NUS) School of Computing (SoC) and AI Singapore, in consultation with experts in innovation and FinTech from UBS Bank, RIPPLE, World Economic Forum, Bank of New York Mellon (Fees may apply).

(*Note: Do note that our Programme don’t commit any placement in a Traineeship company.)

Minimum is polytechnic diploma.

Is the program open to local / PR and international participants?

Yes, everyone is welcomed. Funding is available for local Singaporeans and PR only. International students are welcomed to join the program as well.

Is this FinTech Programme suitable for people who have a full time job and want to upskill themselves with FinTech knowledge?

We’ve made the course to be very hands on and ideally, someone with a full-time job can work with their employer to:

  1. The first 4 weeks will be taken to learn about Data and Artificial Intelligence Literacy (optional).
  2. Take 2 weeks at the beginning of the course for the immersion portion. This is critical to learn “WHY” Fintech and connect into the FinTech ecosystem
  3. For the rest of the course work out that you can take 2 or 3 days per week for class (perhaps adjust work hours)
  4. Discuss how you can apply your learning to your work

How can I benefit from this programme?

Through the program, you will be able to:

  • Attain Professional Certification in FinTech
  • Develop FinTech specific skills through doing FinTech Projects.

Moreover, the program will be fully funded for NUS students graduating in 2021 (For eligible students).\

Are the R&G vouchers for Fintech Professional Certs (Level 1-3) stackable to MSc in Digital Financial Technology offered by NUS?

No, it is not stackable as NUS FinTechSG is a short course and a comprehensive course.

Is it 1 R&G voucher used for per Level (Professional Certificate (PC) Level 1 – 3)?

It is one R&G Voucher per PC/Level.

How would you advice someone who has a Full Time Job but is interested in upskilling themselves via FinTech SG?

You will need to discuss with your employer for time off to attend the programme.

How do I sign up for this program?

Can I withdraw from the program if I am unable to continue due to unforeseen circumstances? Will there be any penalty?

Withdrawals will be handled on a case-by-case basis. In the event where you have secured full time employment with another organization while in the course of pursuing this Programme with us, you are to notify us and the hosting company at least 14 days in advance prior to withdrawing from this Programme. Unless otherwise agreed, there will be no refund for Programme fees and other ancillary fees paid. Virtual vouchers under the NUS RGI utilised for this Programme shall be deemed to have been consumed. If the withdrawal is prior to the commencement of the Programme, the application for use of SkillsFuture Credit can be cancelled.

How will the traineeship matching and hiring take place under this programme?

Subjected to sponsor companies’ availability for roles and openings. We will match the trainees to our partnering companies upon completion of the programme. If a trainee receives multiple offers from different companies, the trainee will be able to select their ideal company based on their preferences.

What would happen if I happen to secure a job before completing all 3 professional certificates?

If you secure a job before completing all 3 of the professional certificate, the unused virtual voucher will be returned to you so that you can further your knowledge in the future.

Are the R&G vouchers for Fintech Professional Certs (Level 1-4) stackable to MSc in Digital Financial Technology offered by NUS?

No, it is not stackable as NUS FinTechSG is a short course and a comprehensive course.

What is the difference between this program and the SGUnited international Fintech program in terms of the program structure?

The NUS SGUS Programme in FinTech is meant for mid-career jobseekers. Graduates from calendar year 2019 to 2021 are not eligible.

Are the R&G vouchers for Fintech Professional Certs (Level 1-3) stackable to SGUS: Professional Services (FinTech) offered by NUS SCALE?

The R&G Vouchers are not for use for the NUS SGUS Programme in FinTech.

Is it 1 R&G voucher used for per Level (Professional Certificate (PC) Level 1 – 3)?

It is one R&G Voucher per PC/Level.

What is the difference between the traineeship and the various levels of professional certificates?

Traineeship is depending on the partnering companies to decide whether are you the right fit for the traineeship. Professional Certificate Level 1 to 3 is which you will receive comprehensive hand on training and theory to prepare you to work in the real world. 

How would you advice someone who has a Full Time Job but is interested in upskilling themselves via FinTech SG?

You will need to discuss with your employer for time off to attend the programme.
