Course Overview

What is Business Analytics and why is it important in leading companies, enterprises and organisations?

Analytics is reshaping industry competition and organisations’ core businesses at an accelerating pace. IDC forecasts the rapid growth of the global datasphere in Data Age 2025 report. In McKinsey Global Survey 2017, respondents say that the changes data and analytics have brought to their industries are growing in both magnitude and scope. Across industries, the use of analytics is increasingly changing the nature of competition in the industries significantly.

Analytics plays a crucial role across industries and within organisations. From identifying business opportunities, gaining deeper insights, making data-driven decisions, ensuring adoption, and growing capabilities, analytics plays a vital role in impactful business outcomes.

Through activities and exploration of case studies, the participants will learn how actionable intelligence works and begin to apply tools, methods, processes and mindsets to their professional workplace.

This module is part of Professional Certificate in Business Analytics and AI for Finance, Retail and Supply Chain.

Learning Outcomes

This course will provide participants with an introduction to what Business Analytics is and its role in business decisions. From these fundamentals, they will then be provided with an overview of current business analytics in the major domains where analytics is being applied, and an introduction to approaches and frameworks for Data & Analytics. Participants will understand what tools and techniques are commonly used and finally explore an exploratory data analysis dashboard for communication to stakeholders.

  • Understand Data Age 2025 & the Analytics landscape and how it impacts business outcomes.
  • Analytics in the Intelligence Age: Case studies will be in the form of real-life application of analytics by leading companies, enterprises, and organisations covered in the course.
  • Develop a business and digital-orientated mindset and skillset through structured problem solving, business discovery and digital use cases.
  • Explore an exploratory data analysis dashboard to communicate with stakeholders
  • Make recommendations for an analytics business case.

Who Should Attend

Any working professional who is interested to learn how to make data-driven decisions and understand how analytics is impacting business and its implications; to build an analytics business case. As it is an introductory course, learners do not have to be an IT expert or programmer to attend it.

Technical Requirements

Participants should have a windows system that supports Microsoft Power BI Desktop.
