The protection of intellectual property rights (“IPR”) is a critical enabler of AI innovation. IPR protection enables AI innovators and creators to protect their innovation, enhance their competitive advantage, and maximise returns from their investments. Innovators need to rely on a combination of different IP rights to secure protection for their AI inventions, as well as elements such as data or algorithms that support these inventions. They also need a clear and effective IP strategy to successfully deploy and scale their AI solutions, particularly internationally. This program discusses the key IP issues that AI innovators should be aware of and provides an overview of how different types of IP rights can be used to protect different AI inventions. Using real world examples, the program will also include steps to design, develop and implement a basic strategic framework for IP management including developing international licensing strategies and programs.
At the end of the program, the participants will be able to:
- Design and implement IPR strategies in AI innovation;
- Develop and implement an IP asset management program from auditing, protection, analyzing, sharing and commercializing IP in the AI innovation context;
- Develop IP policy and put in place an organizational framework with strategic involvement of Boards of Directors;
- Negotiate IP-related deals and agreements including strategic IP licensing programs;
- Measure corporate or organizational performance in IP asset management in the AI innovation value chain.
